Rhizome presents solo, historical, and thematic exhibitions, in the browser and the gallery.

First Look

Founded in 2012, Rhizome and the New Museum collaborate on this series of innovative online projects and new commissions.

Recent projects include "Further Experiments in Art & Technology," in collaboration with NEW INC & Nokia Bell Labs; "Forking PiraGene," an online exhibition that imagines gene writing and discovery as a collective practice; and "Cyberfeminism Index," an in-progress online collection of resources for techno-critical works from 1990–2020, gathered and facilitated by Mindy Seu, a Rhizome commission.

World on a Wire

Hyundai Motor Company and Rhizome and the New Museum have announced a partnership that will see these entities supporting innovative digital art endeavors and exhibitions through 2022. At outset, this partnership is anchored by “World on a Wire,” an online-offline exhibition exploring simulation as an artistic practice.

This exhibition features Mariia Fedorova, LU Fei & LEI Jianhao, JooYoung Oh, Sascha Pohflepp (1978-2019), Matthew Lutz, and Alessia Nigretti, Pete Jiadong Qiang, Tabor Robak, Rachel Rossin, Timur Si-Qin, Theo Triantafyllidis, YE Nan, and ZZYW (Zhenzhen Qi & Yang Wang).

Seven on Seven

A unique, longstanding platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, 7×7 ("Seven on Seven") pairs leading artists with leading technologists and gives them a simple brief: make something. The results are presented at a public conference.

In 2021, the first exhibition to explore 7×7 will launch at Kunsthall Stavanger in Stavanger, Norway, previous home of the 2020 edition: 7×7.no.

Net Art Anthology

Net Art Anthology charts a history of net art through 100 works that define its diversity of practices. Completed in 2019, the project comprises an online exhibition, touring gallery project, and fully-illustrated publication.
