Katrina McPherson Katrina McPherson is an award-winning video dance-maker whose works have been shown at festivals across the world including Pace, Sense-8 and the award-winning Moment and more recently 'The Truth' and There's Something You Should Know. 'Moment' was awarded the prestigious 'Best Screen Choreography' award at the IMZ Dance Screen Festival. Katrina graduated from the Laban Centre, London, in 1988, before going to complete a post-graduate diploma in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Since then, she has combined her exploration of dance on screen within an arts context with a career producing and directing arts programmes for broadcast. she directed Catching the Tide a half hour documentary for Scottish TV's This Scotland series, which was produced by Goat Media Ltd, the Highland-based production company that Katrina runs with her partner Simon Fildes. Katrina and Simon also collaborate on art works, such as the recent www.hyperchoreography.org, which is dance made for the web and they are currently in production of Move-me.com, an interactive video dance installation and website which was launched at the ICA, London, in February 2006. Katrina's continued interest is in the creation and dissemination of movement based work for the screen. She continues to explore the creative possibilities of dance and the moving image, looking for new approaches and ways to communicate. Katrina and Simon also edit and curate videodance.org.uk a web portal for all things relating to video dance. Katrina's experience and insight in her field was recognised in 2002 when she was awarded the Scottish Arts Council's Creative Scotland Award to write a work-book for video dance. �Making Video Dance� was published by Routledge in April 2006.Simon Fildes completed a Biology degree at Stirling University before going on to complete a post-graduate diploma in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. He has edited many video-dance works directed by Katrina McPherson. In 2000, Simon was awarded one of the Scotland Year of the Artist residencies, Simon collaborated with Katrina McPherson making two new web dance works at www.hyperchoreography.org funded by the Scottish Arts Council and AltW and made a series of work for the New Media Scotland 'Remote' residencies project in the Highlands of Scotland. In 2004 he was New Dynamics artist in residence for the Highland Council in Alness and Ardnamurchan, creating new videos, site specific installations and a new web work �Ardnamurchan Zillij�. Simon has been Shortlisted for Creative Scotland Awards 2006 Katrina and Simon are currently lecturers and researchers at the School of Media Arts and imaging University of Dundee, Scotland UK
