Fernando Sanchez was born in Juarez, Mexico and was raised In the suburban wasteland of the Inland Empire, CA. He studied literature and philosophy before developing an art practice and receiving an MFA in Design and Media Art from UCLA in 2007. Working within the tradition of conceptual art, Fernando conflicted with the expectations of a program that focused on formalistic and scientific experimentations with technology. Fernando has always been interested in what people do and why people do things and in this respect Fernando’s approach to art practice follows the sensibilities of a social ethnographer, journalist and provocateur.
