Dene Grigar teaches at Texas Woman?s University, specializing in new media, rhetoric and literature. Her book New Worlds, New Words: Exploring Pathways In and About Electronic Environments speculates about the ways writing and thinking change when moved to electronic environments. Founder of Nouspace and recipient of the 2001 Innovation in Academia Award at TWU in the field of computer science, she attended the 2001 NEH Summer Seminar, led by N. Katherine Hayles, on the topic of electronic literature. In 2004, she completed a 2-year post-doctoral study with the Planetary Colleguim (University of Plymouth) in new media.
