Join us on January 26, 5pm ET to celebrate the release of SFPC_Malware_Anthology.zip, a collection of work created during An Artist’s History of Computer Viruses and Malware, an online class at School For Poetic Computation taught by Todd Anderson and Herdimas Anggara. The zip file anthology contains a mix of desktop software and browser extensions that creatively explore malware aesthetics including a little worm that eats files on your desktop, a browser extension that lets you explore the web on foot, a poetic email spambot, and more!
The event will take place in Rhizome’s Discord, and streamed to Twitch. Todd Anderson will introduce some history of malware art and demonstrate how to safely install (and remove) contents within the anthology. We will also be joined by several of the participating artists who will present their projects and discuss some of the ideas and influences behind their work.
RSVP for a Google calendar invitation for this online event.

Todd Anderson is a software artist and educator who works with poetry, online performance and computer viruses. He is a Co-Director at the School for Poetic Computation and has worked with a number of other New York City arts organizations, including Babycastles and The Illuminator Projection Collective. He is perhaps best known as the host and curator of WordHack, a monthly language+technology talk series started in 2014, which occurs every third Thursday at Wonderville in NYC.
Herdimas Anggara appropriates the affordances of technology to emulate religious ecstasy and altered states of consciousness through contemporary takes of Indonesian ritual performances in digital and/or physical spaces. He breaks the sense of familiarity of platforms that he occupies in to give them a sense of agency over their preconceived ideologies. He received his MFA from Yale School of Art in 2021.
School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) is an experimental school founded in 2013 based in New York City. SFPC supports interdisciplinary study in art, code, hardware and critical theory through online and in-person programs that challenge the capitalistic, heteronormative, and patriarchal canon of social and computer sciences.
