We’re pleased to share the news that Makayla Bailey is joining Rhizome as our new Development Director.
This is a brand new role for Rhizome, funded at the outset by a Change Capital grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. (Recruitment for another Change Capital-funded role, Community Designer, is currently in progress.) In the wake of our recently announced board members, Rafaël Rozendaal’s Endless Nameless gift, and our relaunch of the Artbase collection earlier this year, Makayla’s arrival signals an important step forward for the organization.
Makayla has worked at MoMA, LAXART, and The Studio Museum in Harlem in both curatorial and development capacities. At Studio Museum, she organized the museum’s first digital exhibition, Hearts in Isolation. At LAX, she created and stewarded new membership groups, and organized major gala events. In 2020, she co-organized our Rhizome Benefit honoring Seth Price and Devin Kenny. (A truly fun before-times affair.)
Makayla starts December 1. We know she’ll be a great advocate for the organization and our stakeholders.
