Parasite is another project by Frederic Eyl and Gunnar Green, this time in collaboration with Richard The. Parasite is an independent projection-system which can be attached to subway trains with suction pads. When the train moves into the subway tunnel, the projection starts. The projection uses the speed of the train as a parameter for the projected content.
Since most subway tunnels are somewhat dark and mystical, most people have never sat foot in the dark and mysterious tunnels. Parasite provides the rail travellers with a glimpse into the world of the dark tunnels through the projections.
The creators of Parasite point to the fact that affordable mobile video-projection technologies in the near future will lead to a vast range of different ways to use this technology. Accordingly, the advertising industry can be expected to develop an interest in these kinds of projections, but it can also be used to generate new ways of decorating and telling stories in public space according to the creators of Parasite.
Other projects by Frederic Eyl and Gunnar Green count Aperture - previously posted on Digital Experience.
