Harvester

Amy Franceschini and Michael Swaine’s installation, “Rain Harvester/ Greywater System“, on display now at Gallery 16 in San Francisco “is a prototype for a home greywater and rain catchment system. One of the wash basin’s drains goes to the garden (the right) and the left one goes to the city, so you can slide the cover back and forth depending on where you want to channel your water.” The piece is part of their larger, Victory Gardens 2007 work which “calls for a more active role for cities in shaping agricultural and food policy. It is a concept currently in development with the city of San Francisco that would provide a subsidized home gardening program for individuals and neighborhoods.”
