A Short History of Virtual Hiking (2005, 9.1MB)
Not sure it’s meant to be viewed as a movie away from its context but it works with a just a minimum of background: these folks use software to map out virtual hikes & then try and do them. ( OK - there’s a lot more to it than that, see - paintersflat.net) They document some of these attempts on this movie/slideshow/lecture which manages to be a rather deadpan, poetic & quirky celebration of nature and the act of walking through it, with a strangely timeless & universal quality to which generations of arty walkers from the Romantics to Richard Long could surely relate .
