Ever wanted to play Counter Strike in a 3D model of your own office? What if the footsteps in your virtual house could be heard in your real house? That's what SelectParks, a Melbourne based group of independent artists/game developers are working on with ACMI Park. Their project is a game-based extension of the Australian Centre of the Moving Image (in Victoria) where the group is creating a 3D model of the actual physical museum space. The model will then exist in a custom-built 3D first-person shooter engine where up to 64 connected players will be able to traverse the winding passageways. Best of all, visitors to the museum will 'feel' the gamers speed by, as audio and visuals will be triggered by their gamespace movements. Look out tourists, here we come. -Jonah Brucker-Cohen
