The third Streaming Cinema festival takes place this weekend, on February 21, 22 and 23, in Philadelphia (USA), with screenings, panels and live web casts. This year's focus is the impact of digital media on cinematic storytelling and emerging visual and narrative formats. Alongside the festival are 'Flash-In-The-Pan', a competition giving students 24 hours to make a Flash movie, and 'Story Stream', a collaborative online film. In this unique experiment, filmmakers in Paris, Mexico City and Montreal will work from a common narrative to create three versions of the same film, which are then uploaded. A filmmaker in Philadelphia will weave together strands from the three entries in real-time to create a new hybrid variation. This final version will be streamed live, Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 9:00pm EST on www.streamingcine.com, then archived at www.thebitscreen.com. - Helen Varley Jamieson
