Our media-saturated culture continuously assaults us with a constant
stream of messages presented as news, information, advertising, and
entertainment-messages inherently manipulated by the nature of their
medium. We are too often forced to read messages quickly and without
critical thinking; it is becoming increasingly difficult to discern
meaning through the hyperbole of medium.
This festival aims to recontextualize media and establish an active
relationship between us and our environment. The presented works use a
variety of media to engage all the senses. Meaning threads through the
integration and interaction of the works. We look to illuminate
contemporary processes of communication and help viewers interpret
messages consciously rather than subconsciously.
We invite you for an afternoon of performances engaging various media to
explore and create multisensory experiences. The show will actively
investigate human perceptive modalities en face various channels of
communication.
Over 30 artists will be performing and presenting works on the cutting
edge of art and technology.
The Roosevelt Island Visual Arts Gallery is located at 529 Main Street
in Roosevelt Island, New York.
