.org is a public trust

A group of internet pioneers have banded together to try to wrest
control of the .org domain from Verisign and other corporate
interests.

ICANN, the Internet body charged with making such decisions, will
likely give the job to a corporation rather than a non-profit group,
even if it is the most competent candidate. However, a public show of
support is one of the important elements in the ICANN selection
process.

We think this decision is an important test of whether core
infrastructure on the net will be run in the public interest instead
of enhancing shareholder value. We hope you will take the time to
learn what we do, and show your support if you share our goals.
