Assistant Professor in Digital Foundations/Printmaking (tenure-track position)

  • Deadline:
    Dec. 10, 2011, 5 p.m.
  • Location:
University of Maryland Department of Art, 1211-E Art/Sociology Bldg, College Park, Maryland, 20742, US

The Department of Art at the University of Maryland seeks an accomplished artist who pursues a studio practice with a strong awareness of contemporary critical and theoretical discourse, and who explores the ways in which new media practices and concepts influence contemporary art-making practices – particularly the ways in which new media techniques inform the field of printmaking. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in introductory digital media courses that provide a foundation for both art and graphic design tracks, and secondary responsibilities will be in the instruction of Printmaking and/or Print Media courses other than screen-printing or lithography. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of exhibition, research, graduate supervision, teaching, advising, and service. Given the multi-disciplinary nature of the position, a variety of primary artistic practices would be considered suitable. The position starting date is August 23, 2012. This position is contingent on the continued availability of funds. The University of Maryland, College Park, actively subscribes to a policy of equal employment opportunity, and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, ancestry or national origin, marital status, genetic information, or political affiliation.
