Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo



Albert Uderzo was born on the 25th of April, 1927. Rene Goscinny, was bor=
n in
Paris in 1926, after which he grew up in Buenos Aires. Albert Uderzo starte=

drawing when he was in kindergarten. At the age seven, he read the first
issue of the Mickey Mouse Magazine and started drawing his own stories.

After being hired by World Press in Brussels, he met Hubinon and Charlier. =
It
was while he was in World Press Parisian offices, that he met Goscinny afte=
r
becoming bored at his drawing table. This was the beginning of a lasting
friendship. In 1959, for the first issue of Pilote, Goscinny and Uderzo
created Asterix. The first Asterix album Asterix le Gaulois, was published =
in
1961, and only 6000 editions where printed. In the first sketch, Asterix is=
a
courageous warrior with a strong body but gets transformed into a kind of=

shrimpy complainer and joker. As for Obelix, over the years, he saw his
waistline get bigger. From this moment on, Uderzo worked on five pages per=

week: three for Pilote (Tanguy and Asterix), two for the Journal de Tintin=

(Oumpah-pah). Later, In 1974, Dargaud, Goscinny and Uderzo created the Idef=
ix
Studio.

In 1977, Goscinny died, but Uderzo decided to carry on the great adventure =
of
Asterix.
