Join a young and progressive Design School, exploring the junction between Design Culture+Context, Digital Media Design and Industrial Design. The role focuses on delivering high quality teaching and research, ensuring academic and professional quality in 200-300 level design theory and criticism courses in a studio context. The candidate will be expected to discuss and evaluate design within the broader context of material and visual culture. Courses will focus and expand upon the context within which design is produced and disseminated. Therefore, the candidate should be capable of exploring a wide range of design issues including social, technological, cultural, environmental, functional, historical, aesthetic or symbolic considerations across design, and the creative arts.
Courses may include, but not be limited to CCDN231 Experimental Design Ideas, CCDN331 Live Theory and potentially a new elective in the MDI programme,
CCDN431 Conceptual Design Ideas
Candidates with a PhD or terminal degree in fields such as Design History and Theory, Cultural Studies, Visual or Material Culture, Digital Media Design, Industrial Design or related disciplines and who have recognised research achievements, will be given preference for the position.
It is essential that applicants should have an active record indicating especially high quality research outputs in the form of publications and/or high quality creative works.
