Qwartz 7th edition presided by alva noto calls for new media art creations until October 20, 2010.
QWARTZ PROJECT
Qwartz is an organization that promotes and supports independent artistic creation through an international contest. During the closing ceremony of each edition of Qwartz, independent labels and artists are acknowledged with prizes and endowments.
Today Qwartz has assembled 3,000 labels and 10,000 artists. The prizes reward all aspects of contemporary artistic creation: audiovisuals and graphics, instruments, technological innovation, and new media arts.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
New Media Arts category rewards innovative artworks using new media and technologies. A specific jury has the new media art selection in charge. Launched during Qwartz 5th edition, the New Media Arts prize will reward for the very first time in 2011 a creation and not an artist. The prize-winner was chosen until now after the jury propositions and no call for entry was edited.
The New Media Arts category concerns every artistic creation integrating new technologies in its own creative process. The prize rewards a work using and questioning opportunities offered by machines and digital era. Interactive, audio-visual, digital, and collaborative artworks will be appreciated.
THE JURY
Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr presides over the New Media Arts Jury this year. It is composed by 6 to 8 new media professionals: curators, festival directors, journalists, critics, auctioneers.
Its composition will be announced in September 2010.
THE AWARDS CEREMONY
The Qwartz New Media Arts prize-winner will be known during the Awards Closing Ceremony that happens on Friday, the 1st of April, 2011. Artists, labels, institutions and partners coming from all over the world will be assisting to the event.
