InLight Richmond

Organized by 1708 Gallery, InLight Richmond 2010 is the third annual outdoor temporary light-inspired contemporary art exhibition. InLight Richmond 2010 will be held on the evening of Friday, October 22 in the Historic Shockoe Slip Neighborhood of Downtown Richmond, Virginia. Light-inspired art will be exhibited and performed in the street, on/in buildings, sidewalks, walls, in storefronts, and other public spaces.

1708 Gallery invites emerging and established artists, national and international, working in all media and disciplines (including performance art) to submit proposals for the third annual InLight Richmond. Preferences will be given to proposals that involve, are inspired by, investigate, or interpret themes of light, from light as medium to light as an abstract idea. Existing work, as well as proposals for new projects will be considered.

Potential sites for installations and performance work include various public interior and exterior spaces including sidewalks, storefronts, buildings, walls, entry ways, atriums, street corners, etc., in the Historic Shockoe Slip neighborhood of downtown Richmond.

Work will be juried by Amanda McDonald Crowley, the Executive Director of Eyebeam in New York, the leading not-for-profit art and technology center in the United States.
