Hey, that's what the exhibit's brochure calls them. And what "them" are, are
31 pieces, mostly paintings, from the 1980s and '90s. Rough Edge: Selections
from the Broad Art Foundation is currently showing at the Crocker Art Museum;
the thrust here is contemporary with an emphasis on experimenting, breaking
ground and subverting convention. Artists include John Ahearn, Donald
Baechler, John Baldessari, Ross Bleckner, David Bowes, Richmond Burton, Saint
Clair Cemin, Sue Coe, David Deutsch, Ellen Gallagher, Peter Halley, Lee
Jaffe, Barbara Kruger, Jonathan Lasker, Sherrie Levine, Candy Noland, Albert
Oehlen, Tom Otterness, Robert Therrien, Terry Winters, David Wojnarowicz and
Christopher Wool, along with photographer Cindy Sherman. The show runs
