Norms, standards, net weights and mediocrity pervade our everyday thinking about the world. Yet, how much room is there for individual expressions? Under the heading "100g Durchschnitt, bitte!" – a German saying for 'the regular' – the Chemnitz-based "Begehungen e.V." is calling for applications to its seventh art and culture festival. A novelty in this year's run is an Art Prize that carries a value of 1000 Euros. It will be awarded to an applicant artist at the end of the festival. To register for the festival you need to apply via a web-based form on our website www.begehungen-chemnitz.de. Our call for aplications addresses up and coming artists from any genre. At least one of the artist's works to be included in the application should address the festivals motto and deal with the term and ideas concernig "standards". From August 19 to 22, the festival will take place in the unoccupied Karl-Liebknecht-School near the city center. Each applicant artist is free to arrange his exhibition in one room of the building.
