The English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts Department at Southern Polytechnic State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Media Arts, with a primary emphasis in digital media and graphics, pending final budgetary approval. Other ranks will be considered. SPSU (www.spsu.edu) is a member institution in the University System of Georgia, located 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, in the historic city of Marietta.
Candidates must have at minimum an MFA or terminal master’s degree in Visual Communication or a closely related field. Preference given to candidates with an interdisciplinary PhD focusing on digital media and/or new media by the time of appointment. Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours each semester from among the following: Visual Thinking, Foundations of Graphics, Fundamentals of Website Design, Foundations of Multimedia, Applied Graphics, Podcasting, and Video Production. Standard teaching load may also include Art Appreciation.
