Connie Samaras has been awarded the Adeline Kent Award this year by the
Artists Committee of the San Franciscisco Art Institute As such, she is
having an exhibition which opens tomorrow, Wednesday evening at the Walter
McBean gallery at SFAI titled 'Angelic States - Event Sequence".
"Looking at Connie Samaras' photographs, you can't help but think that the
future
has arrived. Our everyday world appears more like Gotham City in these
startling
masterpieces, which overlay fact with visions of fiction and reveal a big
picture
that can't be seen. It's no wonder that Samaras describes herself as a
speculative
science fiction artist. "Angelic States - Event Sequence" shoudn't be missed.
5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday (opening), 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday through July
27. Free. Walter and McBean Galleries, San Francisco Art Institute, 800
Chestnut
St., San Francisco. (415) 749-4507; www.sfai.edu."
