Call for Artist Submissions

f(r)iction project is seeking artists to submit their work for our inaugural group show, LIMINAL SPACE, opening in January 2010 at an alternative gallery space in Brooklyn, NY.

The exhibition aims to explore the multiplicity of marginal spaces, states, communities and issues that exist within the global cityscape. Liminality alludes to a space-between: a place of ambiguity and transition, a site of passage in which borders, boundaries and thresholds are crossed. Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that engages with the concept of liminality within the global city, as a complex network of transcultural exchange, cultural hybridity and the negotiation of local/global tensions. We are seeking work that not only engages with the marginal issues and communities within the city, but with the liminal as an indeterminate space in which cultural identity and notions of difference are dismantled and reconfigured, allowing for shifts in our understanding and perception.

Please visit our website [www.frictionproject.com] for more information. All artists are encouraged to apply.
