The Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico invites submissions for its Spector Ripps Project Space and Digital Media Lab. Please read the entire submission proposal to verify if you are a likely candidate.
The Project Space at the CCA is a roughly 400 square foot white box with an 800 square foot Digital Media Lab attached adjoining our independent cinema. The project space has a high degree of visibility and attention as the cinema shows roughly three films a day as well presents film festivals and screenings. The CCA is looking for submissions to schedule the 2010 calendar year. The most important aspect to be aware of is we are looking for artists who are able to self-fund their show and to be on site for installation. Aside from that, the CCA is interested in working with artists whose process involves an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach. We would like the project space to serve as a laboratory for emerging artists, to offer the opportunity for an artist to experiment in a way not offered by traditional gallery settings and to work on site creating and installing a project that has not yet been realized. We are interested in work that is process oriented, participatory, transforming and concerned with relevant issues dealing with but not exclusive to the environment and alternative forms of energy, scientific and biological advancement, vulnerability, network theory, toxicity and intervention. We are particularly attracted to artists who are willing and interested in participating in our Outreach program with the local children and teens.
