The Zurich University of the Arts’ (ZHdK) Institute of Design and Technology (idt) offers a two-year
postgraduate studio program in scenography and spatial design leading to the Masters of Advanced
Studies in Scenography award. The part-time and international oriented course is lead by the archi-
tect, curator and theoretician Stephan Trüby.

The course offers a creative platform for professional designers and university graduates to expand
and develop their individual design language and theoretical position in the areas of architecture, ex-
hibition design, urban intervention, (media-) art and theatre through a scenographical transdisciplinary
approach. Based on historical and contemporary practice and theory, the course connects both his-
torical and contemporary design practices and theories and reapplies them directly to the design of
scenographic spaces.

The following scientists, architects and artists are members of the cultural and scientific advisory
committee:

- Philip Ursprung (art historian, Zurich University),
- Beatriz Colomina, (architecture historian, Princeton University),
- Thomas Grunwald (neuroscientist, Swiss EPI),
- Charles Jencks (architecture theorist / landscape artist),
- Wilfried Kühn (architect / exhibition designer, Kuehn Malvezzi, Berlin),
- Thea Brejzek (opera director, performing arts theorist, ZHdK),
- Heiner Mühlmann (culture theoretician, ZHdK).
