"How to Make a Robot Sing from the Heart: the Insanium, Speech Chips, Vocal Synthesis and 'Bending By Design'"

We will listen to, discuss and play with speech synthesis chips looking specifically at the Speakjet chip and the Insanium Synthesizer. Participants will discover how to make a chip say absolutely anything, sing, glitch out, and even become a new ilk of synthesizer. Participants will be encouraged to play Parker's Insanium instrument and experiment with a Speakjet chip on a "development board".
