The University of the Arts Bremen is consolidating their University for Art and their University for Music and putting them under one roof. The variety of available courses serves to promote a productive and unifying dialog between the two courses of study.
The Art and Design department at the University of the Arts seeks to appoint as soon as possible a
Professor (particularly W2) in the area of
3D Interaction and Space
to a five-year term, tenure-track (WP08/06).
The international study program Digital Media with special emphasis on media design and information technology (IT) in media is being offered in Bremen as an inter-university initiative.
The university seeks an internationally-recognized figure with extensive experience in the synthesis of digital media, interaction and space-oriented production/installation to give instruction in the bachelors and masters coursework “Digital Media/Media DesignU”.
Expected of candidates:
-Superior artistic/design quality as well as technical/practical knowledge and proficiency of software and hardware used in digital media
-Competent knowledge of and ability to discuss current issues regarding the development of digital applications in both real and virtual space
-Experience in the area of exhibition as well as application
-Experience in teaching and possessing appropriate instructional aptitude
-Active collaboration in developing and expanding interdisciplinary cooperation with fine arts, integrated design and music curriculum
The future holder of this position will develop instruction and research in the areas of design and art to create a unique curriculum that addresses the current relationship between man and space in today’s world of digital communication. The overlapping of different levels of reality generates new experiences in space within which man’s orientation and positioning play a decisive role. The research and development of the interaction between real space and VR/AR scenarios are of central importance for design in digital media.
It is a prerequisite that the candidate possess the ability and willingness to give instruction in both German and English.
The candidate should be willing to include gender-specific aspects in his/her teaching methods and be actively engaged as a participant in ensuring the university’s academic autonomy.
