love you kill you (10. - 25.08.2008)

This year the Laboratoire Village Nomade, together with border/boundary crossing couples/individuals, is presenting a project exploring aspects of relationships—with one another and the world at large—that transcend the borders/boundaries of race, sex, creed, religion, nationality, culture, or wealth.
Originally inspired by the plight of lovers caught on opposite sides of the Israeli/Palestinian divide, we would like to question the constructs that unite and divide us from one another.

What brings us together? What separates us from each other? What both unites and divides people/s? What borders/boundaries does “love” create? Can you imagine a situation that would make you want to kill?

During a two week residency in La Corbière, a group of artists composed of Ayako Mogi, MaryClare Brzytwa, Marion Neumann, Isamu Krieger, Melissa Crago, Sudhu Tewari, Misa Shimomura, Werner Penzel, Effi Weiss, Amir Borenstein, Jasmin Afissar, Osama Zatar, Kristin Erickson, Christopher Fleeger, Fahed Halabi and Shlomit Lehavi, will examine these topics. In addition to the work created in La Corbière, we are asking for submissions.

You are invited to send any varieties or combinations
—of stories, pictures, videos, and sound recordings—documenting the experiences of those who have encountered the societal boundaries that separate one from another, as well as the ideas that bring us together. This material will form part of a collective piece presented as different artworks projected onto the pages of a unique empty book. The images will change when pages are turned. On August 22nd, all participating artists and residents will be invited to meet for an exhibition at La Corbière that will also be open to the public.
Please send works in a digital format before the 20th of August 2008 (no original artworks)
This project will happen in August (10. - 25.08.2008) at Laboratoire Village Nomade, La Corbière, Switzerland.
