Launch event - "Vectors" online journal for multimedia academic publishing

If you're in the LA area on Thursday, March 3 @ 7pm, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles is hosting the launch event for Vectors: Journal of Culture and Technology in a Dynamic Vernacular. I've been working on this project for the past year as co-Creative Director with Raegan Kelly, and it's one of the most interesting creative opportunities I've been a part of in a while–looking forward to sharing it with you. Details below.

The USC Annenberg Center for Communication invites you to attend the launch of Vectors: Journal of Culture and Technology in a Dynamic Vernacular, an online journal that aims to radically revamp the form and content of next-generation academic publishing.

In addition to creating a venue for academic research and modes of expression that go well beyond traditional text to incorporate still and moving images, sound, and interactivity, Vectors seeks to significantly redefine the parameters of scholarly publication.

Although the language and culture of this century are so clearly impacted by digital communications, traditional academic publishing - which figures prominently for tenure and advancement in higher education - has remained rigidly fixed in a traditional text mode. Vectors aims to shatter the exclusionary nature of the status quo, by fusing the rigor and discipline of a traditional peer-reviewed format with the unique capabilities of digital technology.

If you’re seeking a new direction for expression that places a premium on giving full voice to creativity, scholarship and interdisciplinary collaboration, then join us for the Vectors launch gala. The evening will feature panel discussions with Vectors editors and contributors, a reception, and guerilla media performances.
