Call for Artwork: The Especially Flat File

  • Deadline:
    Jan. 30, 2022, midnight
  • Location:
    Nashville, TN, US

Unrequited Leisure is an experimental, artist-run space in Nashville, TN.
We have a 75in 4K TV, Dolby 5.1 audio, and a small PC for running code based projects (HD).

For this call, we ask that artists submit projects to be viewed/experienced as single channel installations on existing equipment in our gallery. For the most part we are interested in short videos (less than 10 minutes), but we'd love to explore ways that coded works might be integrated into the screening environment, and we're open to proposals for interactive installations that would make use of the equipment in the space (specialty materials, like kinects, or sensors, would need to be provided).

We are curating the 2022 season with the intention of exhibiting a new program of works each month, opening on the first Saturday of that month, in our Nashville gallery space. We'd like to build a collection of works that would be viewable for guest curators throughout the year, who will both invite artists and make selections from what we're calling "The Especially Flat File."

*At this time we are a very small artist collective and we cannot compensate artists for their participation in this program. While there is momentum toward changing this, artists should be aware of this as they submit their work to this opportunity.
