Saturday and Sunday, December 11th and 12th, 21 Grand presents its 5th
Annual T-10 Video Festival, featuring independent videos by local and
national artists, all 10 minutes or less.
Each year, in addition to screening submitted works, the T-10 Festival
includes a featured artist each night, an individual with a significant
history in working with video, screening approximately 30 minutes of their
work followed by a question and answer session with the featured artist.
This year, we are proud to feature the work of Elizabeth Sher on Saturday,
December 11th, and GORDON WINIEMKO on Sunday, December 12th.

Gordon Winiemko
http://www.enjoythesign.com/
is a media artist whose savvy, nuanced work examines cultural assumptions
and phenomena with a razor-sharp wit. Winiemko's work has screened locally,
nationally and internationally, most recently in a solo show at Side Cinema
in Newcastle, England. Winiemko is also known for his installation and
performance work, most notably his piece, The ABC's OF EVICTION, part of the
"ART STRIKE'S BACK" series of 2000, in which he served eviction notices on
weekend revelers in San Francisco's Mission District. His piece ENJOY (made
with Julie Wyman) was named one of the "TOP TEN FILMS OF 1998" on a San
Francisco Bay Guardian critics list.
On Sunday, December 12th Winiemko will present a program of his films,
WEAPONS OF MASS CULTURAL DECONSTRUCTION, which will include:
**ART STRIKE'S BACK (2001) - highlights from the “Art Strike’s Back” series
of performances in response to the evisceration of the Mission Arts
Community during the Dot Bomb days, including documentation of performances
by Winiemko, Lise Swenson, Rene Garcia, members of the Inkboat Butoh troupe,
and Dancers Group Studio.
**THROUGH A SERIES OF SIGNIFICANT GESTURES,THE ARTIST CREATES VALUE (1999) -
an irreverent take on the portentous, self-referential edifice called "art,"
or a completely reverent riff on the post-modern aesthetic.
**BARS AND TONE (2004) - a new experimental short.
**EXCHANGE POLICY (2002) - A wild eyed spending spree - encompassing even
the camera used to make the movie - gives way to an investigation of the
spectacular cultural construction that is "Christmas," along with its
corollary, that sometimes bizarre but no less spectacular ritual of tribal
exchange called "shopping."
Q & A with the artist will follow.
