The Sixth Edition of Over The Real - International Video Art Festival will take place in Lucca from 12 to 17 October 2021 at the Auditorium Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Fondazione Ragghianti.
The Festival, directed by Maurizio Marco Tozzi, Lino Strangis, Veronica D'Auria (CARMA, Rome), with the patronage of the Tuscany Region and in collaboration with the Lucca Film Festival - Europa Cinema, aims to offer a wide range of formal solutions and methods dedicated to the most evolutionary and experimental languages of contemporary art.
Over The Real will also this year present the most significant lines of research that have emerged in recent years in the international panorama of audiovisual arts with 53 works by artists from all over the world, including a new section dedicated to virtual reality.
The collaboration with the curators of the major video art festivals in the world continues, which for this edition will be: Bruno Pavić (Split Videoart Festival, Croatia), Hernando Urrutia (Image Play and Experimenta, Portugal), Ezra Wube (Addis Videoart Festival, Ethiopia). Regarding the latter, there is great expectation for the projection of the works of Ethiopian artists who will certainly have a strong social relevance given the serious emergency that this country is going through.
Guest of honor Federica Marangoni, Venetian artist and designer who throughout her career has experimented with different materials and technological media, following a precise professional and cultural choice, which has led her to exhibit in a very eclectic and interdisciplinary way in major museums and international exhibitions from Moma in New York to the Venice Biennale.
