Live, work and engage with the local community of Red Hook, Brooklyn at our studio DE-CONSTRUKT. Share a beautiful spacious 2600 sq. ft. loft with beautiful skylights, a photography darkroom, art book library, wet sinks, and event space. Private fully-furnished bedrooms, one with a separate studio, with shared bathroom and kitchen. Accessible on-street parking and roof access with a view of Manhattan.
Our residency program started in 2013. We have hosted artists from the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Iceland, Germany, England, Israel, and Palestine. Past work includes painting, drawing, music, video, public intervention, performance, installation, workshops, and film screenings.
We invite artists, photographers, musicians, filmmakers, writers, curators, and researchers to apply for 2018 residency opportunities. We provide a space to develop new ideas, create temporal work and encouragement to form new networks.
All participants must make a public event in Red Hook, and/or work within the community. We will work with each resident to organize their event and will publicize it in our newsletter, on social media, and on our website. Artists are required to stay at least 2 weeks.
The residency fee for two weeks is $675 for a private bedroom with a large studio (1 person) or $550 for a private bedroom. The residency fee must be paid in full before arrival. Artists are responsible for all expenses including supplies and travel. Artists can request work exchange for partial coverage of the residency fee, only if available.
