The School of Art + Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for full- and part-time teaching-focused appointments in the field of Photography beginning August 16, 2019. This appointment requires service for one nine-month academic year (08/16-05/15), with the possibility of an extension beyond the first year.

Qualifications:
Terminal degree in the field of Photography (MFA in Photography, or equivalent) is required. Terminal degrees in other fields may be considered if accompanied by significant professional experience. Candidates will need a demonstrated record of a creative body of work, exhibitions, and a broad understanding of the historical and contemporary field of photography. Applicants must have at least 2 years cumulative teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Teaching experience beyond a Teaching Assistantship is highly preferred. Successful candidates will have an excellent working knowledge of digital photographic media, digital cameras, film cameras, darkroom experience and studio lighting.

Responsibilities:
Teaching will include project-based art making for individuals and group assignments which further a broad understanding of contemporary photographic art making. Candidates will be required to teach Photoshop, Studio Lighting and Studio Courses, and traditional dark room techniques.
• The successful full-time candidate (Lecturer) will teach a 3/3 course load (three courses each in the fall and spring semesters) or equivalent as well as provide service to the school and photography program in areas such as student exhibitions and contributions to curricular development.
• The successful part-time candidate (Adjunct Lecturer) will teach a 2/2 course load (two courses each semester) or equivalent with no service responsibility.
