June 21 to July 22, 2019, Open 10 am to 4 pm Thursday to Monday
This year's edition of Sound Travels opens in June with Elektrik Bugs, a sound and light installation by Stephanie Castonguay created from an electronic workshop with children at the South River Public School where they experiment with the concept of how sound waves are transformed into electric signals, allowing this energy to travel through light and be converted back into sound by the means of an amplified solar panel. Visitors to the exhibition will activate and play the sculpture using flashlights and other portable light emitting devices. This exhibition opens June 21st at 7pm with an artist talk and performance and continues until July 22nd.
