The Artist Lock In, now in its fifth year, is the flagship residency produced by ArtHouse Jersey in partnership with WildWorks.
We are currently seeking artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to apply for this inspiring experience. Facilitated by Sue Hill (Wildworks, Eden Project), artists will spend 10 days living and working together, learning from each other’s practice and responding to the natural environment.
Key information:
Dates of the 2019 Artist Lock In: 22 September - 1 October 2019 (inclusive).
Location: Greve de Lecq Barracks, Jersey, Channel Islands.
Deadline for applications: 31 May 2019
Away from the distractions of everyday life, the Lock In encourages an atmosphere in which to explore new approaches and different styles of making. This is a supported opportunity to fill your lungs with fresh sea air, step out of your comfort zone and collaborate with artists from across the globe without the pressure of a deadline or expectation of a fully finished outcome.
For the first time, the Artist Lock In will take place at Greve De Lecq Barracks, ArtHouse Jersey’s new home. In a sheltered bay on the North coast of Jersey, Greve De Lecq Barracks will become your playground for the duration of the residency.
Dating from 1810 the Barracks are in close proximity to coastal paths, beaches and woodland making it the perfect environment to rewild your practice. We are particularly interested in hearing from artists who are
keen to explore what our role might be in shaping our future and how the arts can have a positive impact in a rapidly changing environment.
