Terra Vivente Artist Residency offers artists the opportunity to inhabit small villages in three regions of Italy. In June, we will be in Sardinia, July in the Taleggio Valley and August in Campania. All regions have gorgeous landscapes, quaint villages, and strong local traditions, while each has its unique focus. For three weeks in Sardinia, Terra Vivente joins forces with IVYnode, a similarly small organization with roots in Sardinia and years of experience organizing art-related events. The studio is an abandoned convent. July finds us in the Taleggio Valley for four weeks, in the village of Peghera, where the famous Taleggio cheese is produced. The studio is in the community museum. The annual cheese festival takes place in July. The summer is filled with festivals, none more lively than Vinalia, in the Campania region in August, but there is more than wine and cheese to enjoy. In Pietraroia, the third location, there is a paleontology museum, marking the significant find of the only intact baby dinosaur fossil in Europe. Archaeological sites are nearby, and all three locations offer possibilities for hiking and city visits. Artists share accommodation and studio space, and an exhibition is held at the end of each residency. We encourage artists whose work embraces community, local traditions, sustainability, food, collaboration or paleontology to apply.
