The Department of Art & Design at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Design at the level of Assistant Professor. The interdisciplinary department fosters and integrates a full and dynamic range of studio art and design practices. We seek an individual who pursues studio practice in design informed by critical, historical, and theoretical concerns. A demonstrated record of innovative pedagogical approaches is considered an asset. The search committee is particularly interested in individuals practicing in the digital realm, working within collaborative, experimental, interdisciplinary and emerging fields in design. Candidates may be working in areas such as algorithmic processes, creative programming, visualization, interfaces, and interaction.
The successful candidate will teach research-driven studio courses and seminars to undergraduates and graduate students, develop the design curriculum, and serve on departmental and university committees. They will be expected to maintain professional activity and scholarly research.

• MFA or equivalent
• Minimum of three years teaching experience at BFA or MFA level
• Demonstrated grounding in formal design principles, design processes and creative problem solving as well as critical theory as it pertains to design
• Professional recognition, such as publications, exhibitions and awards

Candidates should have a robust, creative, intellectually and critically engaged design practice as evidenced by recognition in publications, commissions, exhibitions, awards and/or collaborative projects. The successful candidate should be committed to teaching and engagement in an interdisciplinary art and design department within a large, diverse, public research university.
