Software for Artists Day (S4AD) is a conference that aims to dissolve boundaries between artists, technologists and activists through talks demonstrating unique relationships to digital tooling. S4AD, now in it’s 4th year, will open on July 6th with a keynote speech by Lauren McCarthy, renowned media artist teaching in UCLA’s Digital Media Program. The night will introduce the following day’s speakers which represents a diverse cross section of artists working in emerging technology. The following day will feature four breakout sessions with simultaneous presentations; participants choosing which presentations they attend. Interactive experiences providing insight and inspiration for future art/technology collaborations, will be featured throughout the length of the conference by Kristin Lucas, Damjanski, Pioneer Works Tech Lab, Looking Glass Factory, Jeremy Couillard, Jakob Kudsk Steensen, {UNGLITCH}, Alfredo Salazar-Caro (DiMoDA), Melissa F. Clarke and Margaret Anne Schedel. A special soap box session on both days will allow attendees a moment to address the crowd in order to ask questions or highlight a project they are working on. A special guest in the way of an artificially intelligent chatbot created by the Pioneer Works Tech Lab will help usher attendees around the conference and offer information on speakers. The ticket price includes drinks and lunch throughout the conference.
