New Media Installation/Webcast Inspired by Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge at SAW VIDEO Sept 3rd 2004.

"North-South-East-West 4.0," a new media installation/Webcast inspired by the traditional knowledge of the Anishinaabe People will be presented by SAW Video on September 3, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Club SAW, 67 Nicholas Street Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (West of the Rideau Centre in Arts Court which is at 2 Daly Ave).

Created by Ottawa new media artist Graham Thompson, North-South-East-West 4.0 includes an immersive multimedia installation of video displays and interactive CD-ROM Flash presentations that examine our life cycle in terms of 4 challenges - the challenge to survive, to find a vision, to find a path and to learn the wisdom of the path of the vision.

This is the Ottawa premiere of Thompson's piece which has been exhibited at the ED Video Media Arts Centre, the Contemporary Art Forum Kirchener | Area, the Toronto International Media Arts Biennial, the 2004 International Digital Art Awards touring exhibition of Melbourne Australia, the World Social Forum of Mumbai India, and the Brampton Indie Arts Festival. The piece will travel to Serbia’s International Film Festival MEFEST later in September and to Vancouver's New Forms Festival in October. Graham Thompson, a member of the Metis Nation of British Columbia, graduated from York University (BFA) Toronto in 1983 and from the British Columbia Institute of Technology Vancouver in 1986. Graham has won new media design awards from the International Digital Art Awards of Melbourne Australia (2004), the International Association of Webmasters and Designers of Florida (2004), Cool Site of the Day of New York (2003), the Digital Giraffe of California (2003), and Art Space of Manitoba (2003).
