"rAGEing"

- a group performance for those who rAGe

The iJacket Project explores not only the concept of intended but unwanted use of electronic data, but also the intended and the unwanted as a general theme in its curational approach to showing artwork and performance using new technologies such as Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality.

In a society that is includes youth and excludes non youth, valuable experiences and resources are lost, and meaningful interactions between generations no longer takes place and the torch that carries meaning in culture is dropped. To address this issue in regard to the ageism and the arts and how the sense of "opportunity" due this goes astray, an open call is being made to the general community of artists above the "acceptable" age limit of institutional tolerance of above 50 years of age.

For a planned group performance, artist interested in participation are asked to be part of a performance that focus on revealing the problematic of cultural institutions and to provide a confrontation with them that reflects the culture of our century i.e. , which ceaselessly focus on nurturing "next generation" while undervaluing present and previous generations, and in turn forgoing the most impressive, self-sacrificing and imaginative sector of our society: Those who are older.

In addition to and as an integral part of the performance, each of the participating artists has the opportunity to "live market" information about their lives and works, which will be supplied on a dedicated web page accessible by the public via a QR Code offered as part of the action in the form of "flyers".

There are two possible roles in the performance:

Performer: This role entails the act of picking in front of established art spaces*
Clipest: Creator of a video (gif sequence) commentary in the form of a "Selfie" to the theme of rAGEing**

** Video commentaries should be personal artistic statements to the theme of rAGEing. Following the format of the Selfie Video (1:1 format only!) and using a sequence of images in gif format, the artist is rightly limited to creating a work using a head shot on a white background. He or she may prepare the face in any form or fashion and may a continous or disrupted video with a few or many edits. The duration should be no more than 30 seconds and use as many frames from 1 frame to up to 18 per second.
