The University of Arkansas is seeking an active and energetic artist or designer for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Time-Based Media. The successful candidate will lead the Time and Motion component within the existing Foundations program, and establish a new Time-Based Media concentration-developing, structuring, and teaching the curriculum while also contributing to the strength and energy of the School of Art as a whole. Applicants should have a strong professional record and possess knowledge of a wide variety of interdisciplinary art-making strategies centering on or intersecting with video, sound, performance, interactive media, animation, durational installation, or other hybrid and emerging art forms.

Job Duties: Teach a 2/2 course-load (total of four courses per year) while maintaining an active and significant program of research. The faculty member will work with students at all levels, from foundations to graduate level. They will participate in BFA and MFA reviews, and serve on MFA thesis committees.
Development and management of a new Time-Based Media emphasis area will include, but is not limited to: creating curriculum, ensuring a safe working environment, overseeing a budget, managing supplies and equipment, and supervising graduate assistants. Continued oversight of the Time and Motion component of the Foundations curriculum is expected for the near future. The ability to work collegially and productively with others is an essential aspect of the position.
Service obligations will include student mentoring, undergraduate advising, supervision of student-related activities, and committee service at the Departmental, College, and/or University level. In addition, the new faculty member will be responsible for developing plans for the Time-based Media area within the new Windgate Art and Design District, which includes developing plans for equipment, facilities, studios, and more.
Required Qualifications
● MFA with emphasis in art, design, or equivalent terminal degree earned by August 2018
● Experience in digital video production
● Active and significant exhibition/professional record
● Evidence of excellence in teaching

● A broad knowledge of time-based digital strategies common in contemporary art and design
