Position Description

The Department of Art & Art History at Colorado State University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track position in Graphic Design and Digital Foundations to begin August 16, 2018. We seek an exceptional educator, scholar, and artist who will join our team of dynamic, creative professionals in studio art, art history, and art education. The department recognizes diversity and inclusivity as fundamental to its learning community.

This position will teach courses at all levels of undergraduate and graduate graphic design and digital foundations. Curriculum includes but is not limited to Typography and Design Systems, Illustration, Digital Media Foundations, Responsive Design, and Data Visualization. Duties also include curriculum development in both graphic design and digital foundations, mentoring students, contributing to research in the field, participating in local, regional, national, and international forums, as well as service on department, college, and university committees.

Required Job Qualifications

Terminal degree (MFA, MDes, or equivalent international degree) in visual communications, advanced working knowledge and proficiency in creative technologies and professional standards, excellent writing and communication skills, and familiarity with international graphic design movements in visual communications.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Active record of relevant creative arts exhibitions or a history of professional accomplishment and recognition, teaching experience in higher education and/or evidence of mentorship, demonstrated attention to contemporary and historical issues in visual communications, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
