The IEA’s Experimental Project Residency Program will support an artist with a one or two week residency, an artist stipend, travel, lodging, technology access, materials and technical assistance. Artists have access to a combination of emerging, contemporary and historical media arts tools and materials many unique and not ordinarily available in a studio setting.
The residencies will be scheduled between late January and early December 2018.
Artists will have access to state-of-the art digital arts facilities. Access will include a digital large-format printing facility, and facilities for the production of laser cutting, stone lithography, polymer plate – photo intaglio, wood block, fabric printing, bookbinding and silkscreen printing. The ink jet printers are Canon models with a capacity of up to 60” wide and the laser cutter’s capacity is up to 24×36″. The fabric printer is a 54″ Mimaki TS30-1300 dye sublimation printer paired with a 44″ x 64″ heat press. Our Sterling Digibinder Plus perfect binder is capable of a maximum 12 1/2″ spine and 2″ thickness. The resident artists have 24 hour dedicated access to the IEA studio and equipment. The IEA research associate will work with the resident artist. Additional technical staff and faculty are also available for consultation.
The IEA lab has 3 Mac Pro 3.5 GHz 6-core workstations with a large range of software including the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Max/MSP/Jitter, Ableton Live with VIZZable, Lumen, and Mudbox. Artist have access to a high density Canon EOS 5D IV single lens reflex still camera and a Creo IQsmart3 10000 dpi resolution large bed scanner. Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this residency you must be a New York State resident. Currently enrolled students are not eligible.

In a single document include the following:

-A short preliminary project proposal.
-An artist statement.

10-15 still images, formatted to be viewed on a screen, each image should be no more than 3MB. If you have time based media that you feel is relevant to your application you may include that also, but please limit it to 10 minutes.

WeTransfer, Dropbox, or on a DVD/ thumb drive, please send a self addressed envelope with prepaid postage if you wish for these to be returned to you.
