Open Call International Residency -- Full/Partial Fellowship for US-based artists

  • Deadline:
    Sept. 1, 2017, 1:09 p.m.
  • Location:
    Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY

NARS is now accepting applications for the International Residency Program from international and US based artists. The NARS residency supports emerging and mid-career artists and curators working across all disciplines through three and six-month residencies, creating a space for artistic dialogue and international cultural exchange for an extended period of time.

NARS offers 24/7 access to furnished, private or semi-private studio spaces (280-325 sq ft) in our diverse artist community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. As a studio based residency, the focus is on the artistic process and the experimentation that results from working alongside other artists, within New York's cultural and sociopolitical context.

Artists meet with 4-6 studio visitors each month, gaining invaluable feedback and expanding their network of artists and professionals in NY and internationally. Residents are provided with administrative, curatorial, and professional support to explore and expand the scope of their artistic practice through research, dialogue, and the production of new projects.

Public presentation opportunities include a curated exhibition in the NARS gallery, bi-annual Open Studios, and the Entree/Encore program, through which artists share research and work through artist talks, discussions, screenings, workshops, and performances. The NARS Gallery hosts exhibitions year-round.

NARS does not provide housing, living expenses, or artists' materials. Artists have been supported for residencies at NARS by national and international funding bodies. For a full list of residency sponsors or questions, email applications@narsfoundation.org
