13th Annual Small Works Show 2017

440 Gallery announces the Call for Entries for the 13th annual Small Works Show 2017. This national, juried exhibition celebrates the innovation of artists who create work on a small scale, in a broad range of media and styles. The exhibition will be on display in the 440 Gallery, Park Slope, Brooklyn space from Thursday, December 7, 2017 through Sunday, January 7, 2018.
Juror: Angel Bellaran is a curator living in Brooklyn, and one of the original organizers of the Nasty Women Exhibition movement. A socially-engaged artist + activist previously based in Dublin, Ireland, and San Francisco - Bellaran's multidisciplinary practice combines research, collaboration, curatorial + public engagement to build solidarity amongst artist communities, organizations and movements. Bellaran is an alumni of the Institute of Art, Design & Technology's MAVis programme in Ireland and Mason Gross, the arts conservatory of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Current projects include Sirius Arts Centre's Brian O’Doherty (Patrick Ireland) Restoration Project 2018-19 in Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland, and Nasty Woman of the North in Troy, New York in October. www.angelbellaran.com
Eligibility: Open to artists who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry and who have a US shipping address. Work must be no more than 12 inches (12”) in any direction including the framing or mounting, or video monitors. The artwork may represent any subject matter. All media—including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, sculpture in any medium, collage, printmaking, photography and digital media—will be considered. Accepted work must be suitably framed, wired and ready for hanging. Works on paper must be framed under plexiglass or glass. Maximum weight of sculpture: 30 pounds. Wall mounted monitors must be provided for videos. These eligibility requirements will be strictly enforced and work will be refused if it does not comply with the requirements.
