The University at Buffalo, Department of Media Study, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Media Theory. We seek applications from candidates with research strengths in critical theory and the history and philosophy of media. Preferred research focus areas include media philosophy, media cultures, science and technology studies, and software studies. Appointment to begin in August 2017 for one year, renewable.
Media Study offers an undergraduate BA plus graduate MA, MFA, and PhD programs, and candidates will advise students at all these levels. The candidate will teach two courses per semester, and have the opportunity to develop courses in their area of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a robust research agenda, seek external funding and support as appropriate, and provide moderate service to the University and the Department. Minimum requirements: PhD or equivalent in Media Study (or related field), conferred by time of appointment.
