Assistant Professor - Visualization/Digital Media

The Department of Art and Visual Culture within the College of Design at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 16, 2017.

This position is expected to teach up to five (5) undergraduate or graduate level courses in the application of digital media to visualization techniques for the Integrated Studio Arts (ISA) and Biological/Pre-Medical Illustration (BPMI) programs. Responsibilities will also include maintaining an active art practice and/or research schedule, student advisement, and departmental, college, and university committee service.

Required Qualifications:

M.F.A. in fine/visual/studio arts OR B.F.A. in fine/visual/studio arts along with an M.S., M.A., M.A.M.S., or advanced degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience in digital media including 2D and 3D visualization areas.
• Ability to distill complex content for effective visual presentation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of visual conventions applied to a variety of subsets of art, science, and design.
• Trained in traditional and digital techniques and visual communication principles.
• Interaction design experience including website and application development.
