  • Location:
arebyte Gallery. 49 White Post Lane, Queens Yard. London, UK. E9 5EN

Beginners Guide to Social Bubble will be the first special event of Blinding Pleasures (February 10th - March 18th), the group exhibition held at arebyte Gallery about the dangers and potentials of a conscious use of the mechanisms behind the False Consensus effect and its marketing-driven son, the so-called “Filter Bubble”.

To what extent our perception of reality is based on what we presume our friends and colleagues think? How do we nurture our social comfort zone? Should we disrupt this state of things or accept it as a whole?

Professor of Sociology at the University Complutense de Madrid Amparo Lasén and Istanbul Technical University researcher Ebru Yetişkin will explain what is the False Consensus effects in terms of daily offline life.

At the end of the event, Ebru Yetişkin will lead a workshop that will show to the audience how easy it is to fall within these mechanisms and what they can do to escape it.
