125 works from around the world - paintings, photographs, installations, videos, digital works, land art projects, performances - give us a glimpse into the current state of international contemporary art. These works by emerging artists will arrive in Venice after going through a strict selection by directors of museums and foundations, international art critics and curators.
It is the finalist works of the competition Arte Laguna Prize 16.17, which this year returns to the Arsenale of Venice with an original exhibition curated by Igor Zanti with the collaboration of ten names from the international art scene: Flavio Arensi, Tamara Chalabi, Paolo Colombo, Suad Garayeva, Ilaria Gianni, Emanuele Montibeller, Salvador Nadales, Fatos Ustek, Alma Zevi.
The next event is scheduled for March 25 at 6:00 pm at Nappe Arsenale Nord, Venice, with the grand opening ceremony attracting more than 3 thousand visitors every year.
The exhibition will include 30 paintings, 30 sculptures and installations, 30 photographic artworks, 10 videos, 10 land art projects and 5 performances that will be staged live during the exhibition opening, as well as 5 works from virtual art and 5 from digital graphics.
The exhibition will be open free of charge through Sunday, April 9, from 10:00am to 6:00pm daily. A guided tour is planned with the curator on Sunday, March 26 at 11:00am and then on reservation, also for small groups (contact Cultural Association MoCA +39 0415937242 - ufficiostampa@premioartelaguna.it).
During the opening night, over 30 artists will be awarded with cash prizes, gallery exhibitions, collaborations with companies and art residencies in Italy and abroad. The international partners of the competition will be attending the evening, as well as the Companies that the Arte Laguna Prize engages every year in order to create synergies between art and business.
Especially for the eleventh edition, the Prize has collaborated with 4 companies - Deglupta, Eurosystem, Rima, Papillover - which are looking for creativity and have called artists and designers for 4 product-specific projects. Besides, a special project was designed with the Archives of Sustainability at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Comieco (National Consortium for the Salvage and Recycling of Cellulose-based Packaging).
All the collaborations and the winning projects will be implemented in the course of 2017, composing a full calendar of international events throughout the year until the launch of the twelfth edition next September.
